Where do these rates come from?
Rates are sourced from the European Central Bank's daily reference rates via the Frankfurter API, updated once per business day (ECB doesn't publish rates on weekends or EU holidays). These are reference rates, not the exact rate a bank or card network will give you — real transactions include a spread and fees.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my bank give me a different rate?+
Banks and card networks add a margin (spread) on top of the reference rate shown here — often 1-4% — plus sometimes a flat fee. This tool shows the underlying market/reference rate, not what any specific bank will charge you.
Why is a currency I need not in the list?+
This tool uses the European Central Bank's reference rates, which cover 30 major currencies. Less commonly traded currencies aren't included in the ECB's daily reference publication.
How often are rates updated?+
Once per business day, around 16:00 CET, matching the ECB's publication schedule. Rates don't update on weekends or ECB holidays — you'll see the most recent business day's rate instead.
